Zechariah 9:12 states "Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double." Zechariah had just prophesied concerning the coming Messiah and the salvation for the people. He tells the people to return to their stronghold, calls them prisoners of hope, and promises restoration in double portion.
As I read this verse it jumped out at me. It seemed as if it was beckoning me, "Grab this for your children..." So, I will apply it to my children, then my church. First, I run to my stronghold; the Word of God and call to remembrance every verse I've spoken or prayed over my kids and every word prophesied to them from the Lord. Although I can't remember them all, I call upon the Holy Spirit concerning them all. Second, I recognize that I am a prisoner of hope. Thank God that as a prisoner of hope, I can't get away from hope. The cross reference for this is so exciting; Jeremiah 31:17 says, "There is a hope for your future...your children shall come back to their own country." Third, Zechariah prophesies restoration in double portion. That declaration starts with, "Today I declare..." I felt like God was speaking that directly to me concerning my kids. Today I declare that my children are living and prospering in their own country (their passionate faith and kingdom heritage) I declare that they will receive a double portion restoration of all that has been taken or withheld from them. As they receive, I receive because they are my reward. I also declare a double portion restoration to our church in quality leaders, passionate worshippers, tithers and givers, and those who catch the vision of the house. Thank You God for the faith to declare not just in hope, but in solid belief that this was Your word to me TODAY. I love You Lord and thank You for the encouragement of Your Word.
